Our History

When Andrew Peller first arrived in Canada from Hungary in 1927, he envisioned a day when Canadians would come to appreciate premium quality wines and enjoy sharing them with family and friends. Pursuing his goal, Andrew Peller established Andrés Wines Ltd., the youngest of the large Canadian wineries in Port Moody, British Columbia. in 1961. Over the next thirty years, Andrés Wines opened wineries in several provinces across Canada and in 1994, acquired Hillebrand Estates Winery, Canada’s largest producer of VQA and premium wines at the time. In 2001, after more than six years of planning, Peller Estates Winery was officially opened in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.  This new winery clearly reflected the dreams and vision of Andrew Peller and is a testament to all he achieved in his lifetime. 

Almost a century after his family arrived here, Andrew Peller’s vision of creating a European-like wine culture in Canada continues to flourish. Andrew Peller Limited has grown and evolved to become Canada’s largest publicly traded wine producer, with:
